Admission is free for everything on this schedule EXCEPT Historic Deerfield’s Flynt Center of Early New England Life.* Event maps will be available during event hours at the Indian House Children’s Museum, located at 107 Old Main Street.  This schedule is subject to change.

SATURDAY

10:00 AM-4:30 PM
The Indian House Children’s Museum is open from 10:00 AM-4:30 PM with hands-on activities for families, demonstrations including hearth cookery, and items for sale.

10:30 AM-11:30 AM
Through Enemy Eyes: Bement School Barn and Arts Wing, 100 Old Main St.-French and Native American re-enactors will discuss their perspectives on why the raid occurred, what their goals were, how they were involved, and what the cultural differences were between the various groups involved

11:45 AM-12:30 PM
Captive Voices: Bement School Barn and Arts Wing – first-person portrayals of two captives taken during the 1704 raid on Deerfield

12:30 PM-2:00 PM
Memorial and Native American Rooms open at Memorial Hall Museum, 10 Memorial Street

2:00 PM-3:00 PM 
Battle reenactment on the Deerfield Academy athletic fields off Old Albany Road

  • Food and beverages for sale at the Bement School cafeteria located in Bement House at 100 Old Main Street
  • Public restrooms located behind the Historic Deerfield Information Center at 80A Old Main St.; porta-potty located at the end of the Indian House driveway
  • Ongoing museum gift shop in the Indian House

*Historic Deerfield’s Flynt Center of Early New England Life at 37D Old Main St., is open from 9:30 AM-4:30 PM, admission to the Flynt Center is $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-17, and children under age 6 are free

Historic Deerfield is offering a free lecture by Kevin Sweeney – “Raiding and Captive Taking along the New England and New York Borders 1688-1748” in the Deerfield Community Center (formerly the White Church Community Center), located at the corner of Main and Memorial streets in Old Deerfield

Sweeney is the Professor of American Studies and History at Amherst College in Amherst, MA.  He is also the author with Evan Haefeli of Captors and Captives and Captive Histories.
